SSH (Secure Shell) - A method for remotely controlling one computer from another using text commands instead of a screen and mouse. Because your Raspberry Pi audio player won't have a monitor attached to it, you will use SSH on your laptop to send installation commands to the Pi over your home Wi-Fi.
